ABOUT SLOTMASTERS 1/32 SLOT CAR CLUB, ADELAIDE

Slotmasters slot car club was established in 1998 by a group of friends who raced on timber routed tracks set up in garages at variuos members houses. The club soon outgrew the garage environment and it now calls Thunderbird Raceway home and has some 50 + members from ages 7 to 70 racing on Wednesday and Friday evenings. With a complete range of spares and a huge selection of cars available from the slot shop located within the raceway, it's never been easier to go racing. Slotmasters welcomes and encourages newcomers to the sport and there is always someone at the club only too willing to help with car set up and advice.

ROOKIE RACING

A rookie, or beginners championship, is also held at the raceway on Tuesday eveings with 40+ racers of all ages competing for points and trophies. There are 2 divisions (advanced & beginners) with each division racing on separate tracks. The rookies run 4 types of box standard car, Open wheel, Sports car, Touring car & NASCAR. There is also a mechanic on hand to give advice and 'set up' help with the cars. Racing starts at 7.30 pm. Everyone is welcome, and all it costs is $5.00 for the night !

CLUB RACING

The Friday night racing calendar is divided into two separate championships with racing starting at 7.30. Some of the classes run include Open wheeler, Sports car, Touring car, Rally car, Classic sports car, etc. with restricted and modified classes and a qualifying night prior to the actual race which is held every second Friday.

There is also standard class cars run every Wednesday night which include Go Karts, Trucks, U.S. Muscle cars, Aussie V8 Supercars, Sports cars etc. All racing is controlled by our own specially written computer software program which records the number of laps covered, lap times and fastest lap times during qualifying and racing.

There is three levels or divisions for racing with division 1 being for the more experienced racer and division 3 for the newcomer or rookie and division 2 for the improved racer. Points and trophies are awarded to the first 3 in each division. As a competitor improves and starts winning races, he or she moves up the ranks at the beginning of each season.

Special events are also run throughout the year, such as four & six hour team endurance races (with twilight and night sessions),and include a Nascar 500 series, Aussie V8 Supercars, drag racing and even caravan racing! Door prizes and barbeques are also a regular feature on the racing calendar.

The new larger premises with more tracks, a cafe area with TV to relax in, tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks available from the shop and air conditioning has seen the club and rookie racing grow from strength to strength. Revised classes and rules has seen some very close and exciting racing and there is even bigger and better things in the pipeline for the near future!
